A terrifying invasion of giant spiders in homes across the country may soon be defeated by an unlikely enemy – the humble conker!!!! As millions of spiders are moving indoors in search of a dry place to mate many people are turning to what we would call “an old wives tale” by putting conkers in our homes. Scientists are divided over whether the saponin compund found in conkers is an effective spider repellent. With the size of some of the spiders, what harm is there to leave some horse chestnuts on window ledges and under sofas or anywhere else in your home to act as a deterrant.
